To gain this NEBOSH qualification, you’ll need to complete an open book exam, which you can complete at home or another quiet space where you can focus.

  • You’ll be asked to answer a series of questions based on a real-life workplace scenario, as well as a risk assessment task. To pass, you’ll need to use evidence from the scenario along with the knowledge you’ve gained through the course.
  • You will be given 48 hours to submit your paper to the NEBOSH-appointed external examiner, although you can expect to finish in around five hours.
  • After completing the exam, you’ll be interviewed by video call, to talk through the tasks and verify that the work you’ve submitted is your own. During the interview, which lasts around 15 minutes, the examiner will ask to confirm your identity using photo ID.

NEBOSH’s external examiners will mark the assessments.  Students are notified of their results 10-12 weeks after the exams. Certification is issued by NEBOSH after results have been announced.
