The Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH) is the world’s leading body for health and safety professionals. IOSH provides training and qualifications for workers spanning across all sectors, to remain safe whilst at work. There are 4 different levels of IOSH training available through Easybook Training: IOSH Working Safely, IOSH Managing Safely, IOSH Safety for Senior Executives and IOSH Leading Safely. IOSH Working Safely and IOSH Managing Safely can be completed as online courses. In this blog we take a look at the 4 different IOSH qualifications, what each one involves and who they are suitable for.
The IOSH Working Safely course is a 1 day course to introduce individuals who have had little or no health and safety training, to the basics and essentials of health and safety in and around the workplace.
This IOSH training course can be completed as both classroom training or as an interactive online e-learning course. This course address the fundamentals of health and safety, while teaching individuals to understand the importance of risk assessments, identification of risks and hazards and why it is important to work safely, highlighting the repercussions it may have if they fail to do so.
With regards to the classroom IOSH training course, delegates will undergo written and practical assessments and will be awarded with an IOSH Working Safely certificate upon successful completion. With the e-learning IOSH working safely course, students will complete an multiple choice online assessment and a hazard spotting test.
IOSH Managing Safely is a course designed for managers and supervisors in any industry or organisation who are responsible for risk and resource management. The training can be completed as classroom training or as an interactive online e-learning course or an instructor-led online learning course. IOSH Managing Safely was put together to allow management teams to roll out new measures and make changes in their areas/teams/departments with the aim of achieving a safe and healthy workplace in accordance with a company's organisational policy as well as health and safety regulations.
This IOSH training course will look at risk assessment and risk control in the workplace, understanding responsibility and health and safety legislation, common hazards, investigating accidents and incidents, measuring performance and environmental protection.
The classroom courses and instructor-led online learning courses are assessed via written and practical assessments and the Online IOSH training course will require delegates to take a 25 multiple-choice question online exam followed by an online practical risk assessment project.
The IOSH Safety for Senior Executives is a classroom course designed for individuals in the position of Director or Senior Executive who have overall responsibility for the development and implementation of health and safety management and are seeking training tailored to their specific requirements. It will teach executives how to examine policies and procedures and, implement adjustments to address the health and safety principles throughout their organisation.
The IOSH Safety for Senior Executives course will look at guidelines and practices set out in the Health and Safety at Work Act, safety management systems, the definitions of ‘hazard’ and ‘risk’ and the legal requirement for risk assessment, analysing data and much more.
Delegates must complete a multiple-choice exam with a score of 70% or above in order to successfully finish the course and receive an IOSH accredited certificate.
IOSH Leading Safely is a classroom course designed for top officials such as CEO’s, Managing Directors, Senior Managers, Directors and Executives to discover the benefits of investing in health and safety.
This IOSH safety course itself covers beneficial topics such as health and safety and its implications for leadership roles, leadership responsibility and behaviours, Improvements that leaders can make, company benefits from effective safety leadership and much more.
Delegates will not sit an exam, but will instead complete an initial diagnostic survey to compare their existing health and safety levels to a set of standards. Following this, delegates will prepare a bespoke report in accordance with their responsibilities to propose improvements and then participate in a case study on how problems can occur and implementing improvements using a Plan-Do-Check-Act system. Finally, successful completion necessitates a personal commitment to enhancing their respective health and safety practices using the overall information gained from the IOSH Leading Safely course.
