This 2 hour Banksman training, or traffic marshall training as it may also be known, is an entry-level awareness course that helps students understand how to fulfil their role of supporting safe vehicle and mobile plant operations. It is suitable for banksmen in a range of industries and for various types of vehicle and mobile plant operations.
This e-Learning course covers key areas of a banksman's role, including guiding drivers and operators when other controls are not sufficient, ensuring work areas are kept free from pedestrians and others who may hinder the safe moving of vehicles and helping to maintain the control measures put in place by their employer. It also explains how to use the signals set out in the Health and Safety (Safety Signs and Signals) Regulations 1996, which banksmen commonly refer to.
Please note: This is not a practical training course. Illustrations, videos, and animations are used to teach the hand signals, so learners can see them in action. The course has been designed to support practical work activity and work environment specific training which banksman must receive in addition to this online training.
On completion of this e-learning Vehicle Banksman course, candidates will have the knowledge to ensure site-based traffic management is delivered safely, and demonstrate to employers a level of understanding relating to the risks involved with vehicles on site.

At the end of the course, you will be required to complete an online assessment consisting of 20 multiple choice questions. The pass rate is 80% or higher and answers are automatically marked so you’ll know instantly whether you passed. If you don't pass don't worry! You can take the test as many times as you need with no extra charge.

This online training course will assist the learner in understanding what their job role entails and how to safely guide drivers and operators using a signalling system.
