First Aid at Work Refresher Course Overview

The First Aid at Work Refresher Course is designed to update the skills of those wishing to renew their existing 3 day First Aid at Work Certificate.

Delegates must be in possession of a First Aid at Work or a First Aid at Work Refresher Certificate. If the certificate has expired, you will need to contact our training team for further assistance on 01892 543000.

This first aid at work Refresher course involves at least 12 hours of training and is run over2 days.

This FAW Refresher Training course is designed for people looking to renew a valid First aid at work certificate.

What Does the FAW Course Cover?

The First Aid at Work Refresher Course is a 2 day course and will aim to refresh delegates’ knowledge of the following topics: -

•     Managing Incidents
•     Basic Life Support
•     Eye Injuries
•     Head injuries
•     Seizures (Adults)
•     Shock
•     Examination of a Casualty
•     Fractures
•     Burns and Scalds
•     Common Illnesses
•     Unconsciousness
•     Control of Bleeding
•     Chest Pains including Heart Attacks & Angina
•     Asthma
•     Fainting/Feeling Faint
•     Low Blood Sugar/Diabetic Emergencies
•     Allergic reaction
•     Stroke
•     Spinal injuries
•     Dressings
•     Recording and Reporting
•     Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations
•     First Aid Kits

Under the current HSE guidelines it is "strongly recommended" that first-aiders undertake an annual half day First Aid at Work refresher course and a full re-qualification before this original First Aid at Work Course reaches its 3 year expiry.

There is also the Emergency First Aid at Work Course, recommended for anyone within an organisation who is likely to find themselves stepping up to administer first aid during a first aid emergency in the absence of a qualified First Aider.
