NRSWA (New Roads & Street Works Act) Operatives Re-Assessment Course


For those whose street work license is about to expire or expired, they need to renew it by taking the NRSWA Streetworks Re-Assessment course. The ideal time to take this course is either six months before the date of expiration or six months after the date of expiration. Delegates who do not meet the timeline criteria will not be able to take this course. At the end of the course, there is a multiple-choice assessment test that takes 30 minutes.

 When it comes to street work, there should always be a supervisor. While they are not required to be onsite always, they do need to possess the NRSWA Streetworks Supervisor qualification. NRSWA Unit 1 Signing, Lighting and Guarding

Once completed the NRSWA Unit 1 course, sucessful candidates will be certified to set out of traffic lights, signs, cones and barriers in compliance with NRSWA.   This course is designed for all personnel employed by Local Authorities, Utilities and their contractors for the purpose of any road works in, on or around the highway.

NRSWA Unit S1 Signing, Lighting and Guarding

Once completed the NRSWA Unit S1 course, sucessful candidates are certified to supervise the setting out of traffic lights, signs, cones and barriers in compliance with the NRSW Act.  Assessment is carried out during the course and delegates are also required to complete a question paper. Delegates must also provide evidence from the work place where the assessment is carried out on a simulated site.

* Please note that this course does not certify candidates to undertake the setting out of signing, lighting and guarding. In order to qualify for this students must successfully pass the operative NRSWA Unit 1. *
