The CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) is a professional membership organisation of construction professionals which certifies competence in all areas of construction. The scheme is designed to prove that an individual working on a construction site holds the appropriate training, experience and qualifications to successfully complete the work they perform on site. It is not a legal requirement to hold a CSCS card, but the vast majority of construction employers do require delegates to hold a valid CSCS card.
If you are a construction site manager, or aiming to become one, you will be required to hold a black CSCS Manager Card. To get your card, you will have to first successfully complete a construction NVQ Level 6 qualification in Construction Site Management or Construction Contracting Operations Management. Along side this you will also need to complete a CITB Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) Touch Screen Test.
