This one-day PASMA Towers on Stairs course combines practical sessions with classroom-based theory to teach attendees how to assemble, alter, inspect, use and dismantle mobile access towers, safely.
With a maximum of eight delegates per course, there’s plenty of opportunity to ask questions and get the right support. You’ll need a good working knowledge of working at height and hold a current PASMA Towers for Users PhotoCard. At the end of the day, you’ll leave with a nationally recognised PASMA qualification, certificate and ID, which is valid for five years.
Please note: Training is focused on mobile access towers in aluminium alloy or GRP fibreglass, approved to BS EN 1004: 2004 and carrying a British Standard or equivalent mark of approval.
Only those delegates who have passed the PASMA Standard Tower or PASMA Combined Tower & Low Level Access course in the last five years, hold an in-date certificate and can provide evidence of this are eligible to attend the PASMA Tower on Stairs training.

On completion of the theory training, you’ll take a multiple-choice theory test. If successful, you’ll move on to the practical assessment, which involves building a mobile access tower on a stairwell.
Students who successfull pass both theory and practical assessments will receive the relevant PASMA Certificate and Photocard, which is valid for five years.
If you are responsible for assembling, working on, moving, dismantling or inspecting mobile access towers on stairs, steps or escalators, this course will provide you with everything you need to work safely.
You must have already passed the PASMA Tower for Users, or PASMA Combined Tower and Low Level Access course before enrolling on this training course. Your Photo ID will be required.
You must also be confident to work at height and be physically able to carry out a practical assessment on the day.
A good comprehension of written and verbal English is essential to read and understand safety notices and instruction manuals.

Since the safe use of mobile access towers requires that delegates consult safety notices and read and thoroughly understand the manufacturer's instruction manual, literacy and language comprehension are important requirements for any tower user.
Similarly, since the assembly and use of mobile access towers can be physically demanding, users should be physically fit and in good health and should, generally, not have problems with eyesight or hearing, heart disease, high blood pressure, epilepsy, fear of heights / vertigo, giddiness / difficulty with balance, impaired limb function, alcohol or drug dependence or psychiatric illness.
If delegates have any problems with literacy or language comprehension, or have any doubts about their fitness to use mobile access towers, they must bring them to the attention of their employer. This need not preclude them from using mobile access towers, provided their employer conducts an assessment and is able to put into place adequate measures, to take account of any difficulties they may have.

All of the PASMA courses involve an element of practical work, which means assembling, dismantling, moving and climbing towers. This can be physically demanding, so you will be required to have a reasonable level of fitness. If you have any doubts about your fitness to use towers, share your concerns with your employer in the first instance and speak to our bookings team for advice.
If your PASMA card is due to expire, you can extend it by taking the same training course again. The course will most likely have been updated since you last took it, to keep up with changing standards, regulations and good practice.
Yes, PASMA courses are formally assessed and all courses include both a written and practical assessment. If you fail either assessment, you will fail the course. Your instructor will do everything they can to prepare you for your assessments.
PASMA I.D Cards will be sent in the post approximately 2-4 weeks after training is completed. The PASMA paper certificates are no longer produced but can be obtained if required by following the below steps:
