NRSWA (New Roads & Street Works Act) Operatives Re-Assessment Course

Overview

NRSWA Operatives Re-Assessment Training (New Roads and Street Works Act) is a necessity for any employee who have previously completed the NRSWA Operatives course

Delegates who wish to undertake this training MUST provide a scanned copy of their current Streetworks card (Front and Back).  Students MUST complete their training within 5 years of the card expiry.  Failure to adhere to these guidelines will result in the delegate having to sit the full NRSWA Operatives 5 day course again.

This NRSWA Re-Assessment training covers the standard units only (Units LA 1-5 and 8) as detailed below.  If your delegate holds additional units please call 08000 931189 to arrange for these to be included.

Objectives

At the end of the course delegates knowledge will be refreshed on: -

  • Training and assessment process for a Streetworks Operative.
  • Health and Safety legislation and their obligations under this Act.
  • Safe working practices and methods.
  • Reference documentation used within the Highways Industry.

Agenda

The NRSWA Re-Assessment Course for Operatives will cover theory and revision of the following units: -

Unit LA - Location & avoidance of underground services
Unit 01 - Signing, Lighting & Guarding
Unit 02 - Excavation in the highway. Specifications, techniques, road types, materials
Unit 03 - Reinstatement & compaction of backfill materials
Unit 04 - Reinstatement of non-bituminous sub-base & road-base materials
Unit 05 - Laying practices and reinstatement of cold lay bituminous materials. Specification & types of materials.
Unit 08 - Reinstatement of modular surfaces & concrete footways

Assessment

For each unit requiring re-assessment delegates will need to complete the following: -

  • Multiple choice assessment paper
  • Time allocation of 30 Minutes
  • Pass mark of 80%

Delegates will be required to present their original Streetworks Card to the trainer.  Photocopies will not be accepted.

 

Who Should Attend?

This NRSWA Operatives Re-Assessment training course is designed for NRSWA operatives who currently hold a valid Street Works card who carry out work on the roadways and highways.

Suggested Progression

Delegates may choose to progress to the NRSWA Supervisors course

Prerequisites

Delegates who wish to undertake this training MUST provide a scanned copy of their current Streetworks card (Front and Back).  Students MUST complete their training within 5 years of the card expiry.  Failure to adhere to these guidelines will result in the delegate having to sit the full NRSWA Operatives 5 day course again.

Delegates will also be required to present their original Card to the trainer on the first day of the course.  Photocopies will not be accepted.

A basic comprehension of the English Language is essential.

  • Will lunch be Included?

    The joining instructions will indicate if lunch is provided for the duration of your course.  Should you need to know prior to booking please contact one of our team who will be happy to advise.

  • When will I receive my Course Joining Instructions?

    Course joining instructions are sent 7 to 10 days prior to course commencement.  If you book within this time frame they are emailed within 24 hours of the booking being placed.

  • What time does my course start?

    Start and finish times are confirmed on your joining instructions which are issued 7 to 10 days prior to course commencement.  Failure to arrive at the requested time may result in the delegate being turned away.

  • Can I complete a name change on my booking?

    Yes, a name change can be completed free of charge providing the delegate being substituted has the required pre-requisites. You can submit your request by emailing our customer service team at training@easybooktraining.co.uk or calling on 01892 543000.

  • Why do I need to provide a pre-requisite?

    Pre-requisites are requested when the awarding body requires proof of a previous in date qualification or experience, to ensure delegates are eligible to attend.
