The NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety is a globally recognised qualification, formally known as the NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management.
Over the course of the training, you’ll learn essential fire safety skills that you can use anywhere in the world. You’ll be able to carry out an effective fire risk assessment on any workplace and put adequate measures in place to prevent or minimise the devastating effects of a fire or explosion.
Guided by the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RRO), this level-3 qualification was updated in March 2021 and is an excellent guide for anyone responsible for health and safety at work. So, if you work in a low to medium-risk workplace, you’ll be able to implement safe systems and influence positive fire safety behaviour in your colleagues.
Students will be required to undertake a minimum of 20-hours self-study time in addition to the classroom based studying.
Please note: This course is a standalone qualification, which means that you can’t use units from other NEBOSH courses against any part of this qualification.
By the end of this NEBOSH course, you’ll have a thorough understanding of fire safety management, including:

To gain this NEBOSH Fire Safety qualification, you’ll need to complete the following assessments:
1) An open book exam
This is an exam that you can complete at home or another quiet space where you can focus. You’ll be asked to carry out a series of tasks based on a given workplace scenario. To pass, you’ll need to use evidence from the scenario along with the knowledge you’ve gained through the course.

Please note: You’ll need access to Wi-Fi to be able to download the open book exam paper. You’ll also need to be competent with word processing software such as Microsoft Word to complete your written assessment.
2) A practical risk assessment with written report
You’ll be asked to complete a risk assessment and submit a written report directly to NEBOSH no later than 10 days after the Fire Safety Certificate course start date. This is to demonstrate your knowledge and apply your skills in a practical situation.
Both assessments will be marked by an external examiner appointed by NEBOSH. All examiners have extensive experience and are considered experts in the industry.
On successful completion of the course and assessments, you’ll be awarded the NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety.
If you’re responsible for fire safety at work in a medium to low-risk workplace, this course will teach you how to assess various workspaces for fire safety and put reasonable measures in place to ensure the risk of fire is minimised. This includes (but is not limited to):
