IPAF Operator Training Course 3a, 3b & 1b

IPAF Operator Training Course 3a, 3b & 1b

Overview

This combined IPAF 3a, 3b and 1b training course brings together the operating knowledge of three types of Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPS). These are:

  • 3a – mobile vertical platforms, such as scissor lifts
  • 3b – mobile boom lifts, such as a cherry picker
  • 1b – single static booms, such as a truck-mounted boom

If your work involves a combination of any of these platforms, this 1 day IPAF course will give you everything you need to know to be able to safely operate them. Learning will start with classroom-based tutorials, followed by practical sessions. You’ll need to be able to demonstrate that you can use each type of MEWP competently to pass the course.

It is against the law to operate these platforms without the relevant qualifications. The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) licence is internationally recognised. You can also book this course if you need to renew your operator licence.

IPAF Operator training courses require delegates to take the following P.P.E and Photo I.D:

  • I.D - Passport or Photocard Driving Licence
  • Safety Helmet
  • Safety Boots or Shoes
  • Gloves
  • Hi-Vis Vest
  • Full body harness and adjustable restraint lanyard.  You WILL NOT be able to complete the practical element of the training without a suitable harness.

All IPAF certification is issued electronically via ePAL.  Students will be required to download the app onto their device to access any certification they hold with IPAF.  Should a physical PAL card and/or certificate be required, this must be requested at time of booking and will be charged at an extra cost.  It is recommended delegates download the app prior to course commencement.

Prerequisites

Candidate Entry Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years old
  • Must be literate with a good level of comprehension
  • Must be physically fit

IPAF Health & Fitness Statement

Since the safe use of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms requires that delegates consult safety notices and read and thoroughly understand the manufacturer's instruction manual, literacy and language comprehension are important requirements for any MEWP user.

Similarly, since the assembly and use of MEWPS can be physically demanding, users should be physically fit and in good health and should, generally, not have problems with eyesight or hearing, heart disease, high blood pressure, epilepsy, fear of heights / vertigo, giddiness / difficulty with  balance, impaired limb function, alcohol or drug dependence or psychiatric illness.

If delegates have any problems with literacy or language comprehension, or have any doubts about their fitness to use a MEWP, they must bring them to the attention of their employer. This need not preclude them from using MEWPS, provided their employer conducts an assessment and is able to put into place adequate measures, to take account of any difficulties they may have.

IPAF Operator training courses require that each delegate must have the following P.P.E:

  • Photo I.D - Passport or Photocard Driving Licence
  • Safety Helmet
  • Safety Boots or Shoes
  • Gloves
  • Hi-Vis Vest
  • Full body harness and adjustable restraint lanyard.  You WILL NOT be able to complete the practical element of the training without a suitable harness.
